Even though both the Odyssey and Optima batteries you can buy are built using AGM technology, there is one significant difference between them. The difference is that Optima batteries use spiral plates rather than thin ones as they do in the Odyssey batteries.

The plates are stacked within the case in a square shape in Odyssey batteries. Each of the cells within the battery can produce 2 volts of electricity, and as there are a total of 6 cells in each battery, they make a total of 12 volts.

The problem with this design is that using the spiral plates inside leads to less usable space, meaning they come with a lower reserve capacity.   1. So what is a better battery? Optima or odessy? ? For my 3017 Jeep Rubicon Unlimited jku, with lights and a winch.

      Odyssey is better for your 2017 Jeep Rubicon.

      Odyssey contains more lead in them than the same size Optima batteries. The more lead the battery contains, the higher the RC rating is. And a high RC battery will run the lights and winch in your Jeep for longer.

      Besides, you will need a high CCA battery to power both your engine and winch. And as I mentioned, the Odyssey battery’s CCA rating is much higher than Optima batteries.
